Awards and Accomplishments

Nusrat Alam has dedicated her professional life to the pursuit of a fairer, more just society. As a first-generation Bengali-American, she has risen from humble beginnings to become a leader in her community and an inspiration for future generations. As a living example of the American dream, she is excited to continue working tirelessly for a better future.

Miss Alam was raised in Queens, NY, where her father, the first elected South Asian official in New York, introduced her to politics at age 16. As the daughter of a groundbreaking public servant, she was naturally drawn to politics. She began her career working for a New York City Councilman, and later interning for a US Representative. Getting an up-close view of the inner workings of government gave her deep insight into the work that needed to be done. Eventually, she realized she could accomplish more if she left the contentious world of politics, deciding instead to focus her energies on coaching, radio broadcast, and community outreach.

In 2017, Miss Alam founded ‘I Am Perspective,’ With its mission of fostering empathy and awareness amongst people from every walk of life, IAP has provided essential resources to countless individuals who are pursuing a better future through entrepreneurship and personal growth. She has helped several people become involved in politics through her online voter registration campaign, and helped keep them informed about the importance of voting during non presidential election years. Drawing on her vast experience in public service and her perspective as a Bengali American, Miss Alam is uniquely qualified to help her clients unlock their potential. She dresses everything from the importance of allyship to ways to build bridges between diverse communities, always delivering her message with empathy, warmth, and conviction.

Miss Alam has also led a prolific career as a writer. She was a founding editor for the first ever online Asian American newsletter at Stony Brook University, and is currently the COO of Egalite Publishing, a company committed to creating equal opportunities for writers of all backgrounds.

Whether it is through personal coaching, her IAP radio show, or one of the several other community organizations that she is involved with, Miss Alam’s work has introduced her to countless inspiring individuals. She has made a real tangible difference in many people's lives and given many the tools they need to build better communities. As the world changes, Miss Alam is excited about embracing the future and continuing her tireless quest for a better world.
